Type 56 Chicom Chest Rig
Details
Type 56 Chicom Chest Rig
The Type 56 chest rig has been a fixture of modern irregular and conventional warfare since China began producing it as companion gear for the Type 56 rifle, itself a Chinese-built AK variant. Its low profile and simple canvas construction made it easy to manufacture and distribute at scale, and it saw hard use across decades of conflict, carried by everyone from American Special Forces advisors and their allies in Vietnam to Soviet VDV paratroopers in Afghanistan.
Construction is straightforward cotton canvas holding three magazine pockets, sized for standard AK or AR-pattern magazines, with simple retention flaps and no unnecessary bulk.
